LNS-Habby and Wools

I believed most popular and well known shop among the local crafters is H&W. Located at the 2nd floor of Plaza Ampang Park. You can never missed it if you take an escalator to the 2nd floor -- the shop is just opposite the escalator. At H&W you can find a greater selection of DMC thread and tools. Haby also do framing services if you want to frame your cross stitch works. You can enroll for a tatting and stumpwork class with a reasonable lesson fee (material is not included).

They also sell cross stitch charts and books, tatting thread, silk ribbon, chrochet threads, american cotton (very limited selection) and fabric for cross stitch.

Haby & wool can be contacted at : 03-2161 5346 (Jenny/Jennifer)

Happy stitching and stashing!

Antique Chairs

Salaams and Hello to all my readers and visitors

Six antique chairs by Thea Gouverneur is the latest addition in my personal chart library (huh..when is the chart madness is going to end for me…never I guess..*wink*). I have been searching hi and low for this chart and the price offered at abcstitch is unfavourable with me, so, who can help?..*grin* of course ebay!.

This kit which came with a linen..yup..linen..(..no wonder it is quite expensive) and a pre-sorted DMC thread..yay ! make my life easy as I never like to do thread sorting whenever I bought a kit. Which chair that I am going to stitch first?..Lets wait and see.

Happy stitching and sewing.

Amaryllis Belladonna

Salaam Ramadhan !. I am still in my small botanic garden planting another flower and this time its Belladonna Lilly *wink*. I am utilizing my limited free time before the fasting month start tommorow. I am going to be very busy till the end of syawal..with baking activities, cleaning the house, finishing some of the stitching and sewing wip's, helping dd's with their final prep for the examination which is just around the corner...(erkss..dup dap dup dap..can you hear my heart beat..I am the one who gets anxiety!..LOL)

A brief description about this flower. I am using a satin ribbon with ribbon stitch techniques. It will be best to use the wired ribbon (payah nak dapat) for the flower as its not easy to make the long petals with ribbon stitch to create a look yang melentik2 (hahahaha..I am lost some word in english explanation) like. Anyway, as long nampak sipi2 sama..it's okay with me. This flower is paired with my blue primrose which I will sew into rectangle cushion..(bila siap tatau..since sewing is not my strenght *wink*).

And here is the plate, 8 inch size..

To all my friends and readers, thanks so much for your time and leaving me a sweet notes. Saya mendoakan agar Allah memberkati kehidupan kita semua. Lots of love from me, xoxoxoxo.

An Inspiration from Botanic Garden

Hurmmm..it was a long thinking, which technique to use, in order to make this flower - Primula Villosa (Blue Primrose). I was inspired to do this flower from my small collection of Botanic Garden by Portmeirion.
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Ribbon is by offray, and as for the leaves, I am so happy with my purchase from Pn.Ann's shop. I really love the green colour variation. It solved my problem to think about 2 tone leaves colour as per picture below. Novelty button is by jesse james.

Amin.

Make Money From Craft

Hello friends,

Australian Country Craft and Decorating Magazine is one of my fav mags as it features lots of inspirational projects and home decorating. I usually bought the back issue from the local stores. I had found one interesting article published in the Vol 18 No 7 by Donna Peters - about making money from craft that I would like to share with all of you. Hope that the tips can be as guideline and beneficial for those who wanted to make business from their hobby. I had summarized it to the main point and Happy Reading.

Introduction

If you love what you do and are passionate about your work, it would seem only fair that you prosper in your chosen profession, but unfortunately this isn’t always the case. Many craft business fail despite their founders giving it everything they’ve got. Too many people approach it as an extension of their hobby and fun way to make some money doing what they enjoy, but this attitude leads ultimately to failure.
To succeed you must scrutinise each and every aspect of your operation and leave nothing to chance. If you’ve ever set up a stall at a craft market or attended one as a visitor, you’ll be well aware there is a great deal of competition out there.
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
What’s in a name

· Decide on a name as a good one helps customers identify your line of bussiness and also assist in selling it
· Establish a relationship with your customer
· Create a large – but not tacky – sign and hang it proudly in a prominent spot in your stall
· Invest in a substantial supply of business card – make them eye catching and presentable as it gives:
o Impression of professionalism
o Mobile form of advertisement
o Raising brand recognition among the punters
o Offer people a way to get in contact with you
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Going Live

· Set up a website
· Invest in advertising and promotion and use craft forums and chat rooms to your advantage by logging on regularly and telling people about new products and the latest update to your online store
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Got what it takes?

· Be honest with yourself when considering whether or not people will want to buy what you have to sell.
· If you know your workmanship isn’t up to scratch, it’s best to pull out before you even get started
· If you still have a lot to learn you’ll benefit from waiting until you have all the skills and knowledge necessary to be the top of your field before launching your business otherwise you will never prosper commercially
· Once you ready to do a business in a craft world, stock up on product and never attend a fair without ample supplies. You need to have stock ready to go as nobody wants to wait around for you to make up a kit, pattern and so on after they have placed an order. Internet shopping’s selling point is convenient and if a customer experiences lengthy delays in receiving their goods, they are unlikely return to your site or recommend you to a friend
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Wants and Needs

Craft is not a business that provides the public with necessity; it is an industry that caters a luxury market. You have to make the customer feel as though they need to buy what you are offering.

It is difficult to produce something entirely new even if you did succeed, it wouldn’t be long before others were producing your idea. The trick is to be great at what you do and always be ahead of trends

A great product sparks interest and a satisfied customer will most likely visit you again to see what else is available. For this reason, you must change your stock constantly and always be releasing new items. You should update your range regularly and retire anything that's been around too long. This also creates an air of exclusivity and urgency - if people know your stock is always changing, they feel the need to buy immediately as they won't want to risk missing out.
It’s all about creating need out of want – and it’s your ticket to success.

Purple Violas

I miss my Ribbon Embroidery hobby, thus -- Open my ribbon box, grab A-Z RE book for the design and Helen Eriksson Ribbon Renaissance for the Viola techniques. Initially I thought it was pansies, but it is not *sigh*..it is known as Viola..*wink*..

Next, I am going to stitch another flower, still not decide which flower to be paired with this Violas. Till my next entry, thanks for viewing and have a wonderful day ahead. Moga Allah memberkati anda semua.

Butterflies Rhapsody

I had stitched these two pairs charming butterflies long time ago. The chart is from The Countryside in Cross Stitch by Christina Marsh.

Few years later, when I saw Butterfly Collection books by Cross My Heart Inc, it had whetted my appetite to stitch another butterfly chart. I also bought 110cm x 150cm wool Afghan from H&W because I plan to stitch as per book cover and I was imagined for-- a tablecloth.

My plan did not work well..*sigh* as I found the Afghan is soft like a wool blanket and the boxes are quite big, maybe 5ct or 6ct (uishhh..dah tersalah pilih type of Afghan). I then put off the plan to stitch the butterfly motiff on it and decided to go for small runner for my side table using Aida fabric. Well, this one too has been under my UFO list for quite sometimes..*wink*.

My passion for butterfly continues with fine porcelain. When portmeirion introduced their butterfly collection few years back, I had bought the dinner plate and a small bowl. What I loves about portmeirion botanic garden, you can always mix and match them and you can find butterfly at each of the design..walla!

Butterflies motif are inside and outside of this small bowls..are'nt they generous ?..I likee!

Till then, Happy stashing, stitching and crafting. Lots of love from Me. XOXOXOXO to all my friends and readers.

Misleading...

What a waste of time !. When Sara showed me a coupon about a introductory seminar on m@m@ry workshop, which she obtained from her school teacher, I just said yes to her and make arrangement to send her to the stated venue together with her friends. After sending her, I then proceed to my next destination--Sungai Buloh Nursery. About half way driving, I received smsed from her stated that "ibu, kalau parents tak datang sekali, tak boleh masuk"

Whaaat (emergency brake !) its quite far for me to make a u-turn and grrrrrr..@#$%$@*&**^%. I don't see any single words in the coupon stated that parents attendance is compulsory or whatsoever words that stressed about it. This is truly misleading and I am very mad with this kind of company.
According to Sara, quite a number of participant who came with their friends went home empty handed..sib baik Suria KLCC dekat ..hiksss..but still la kan..menyusahkan je dorang nie.

Sara, no need to waste your time and my time with this kind of people, just read the book which I bought for you many years ago and it's a good book.

Alternatively, we can enjoy this nice and juicy jumbo raisin in the kitchen. Till next entry, have a wonderful day ahead and may god bless you.

Bookmark with Overlapping Chain

This is my 2nd attempt to tat this boomark. On my first attempt, I realized that I had made a mistake (dang!..besar taw kesalahan tu) which left me with one choice (to throw it) after I had almost completed the 2nd row..(uwaaaa...it's daunting).

Well..what have I done?. Poor me, I mean my brain *wink*. I had ignored the instruction NOT TO JOIN the ring (I'm not thinking straight..hiks)...aha!..because if you joined it, you cannot do the overlapping..(erks!).

I need a break, my mind has been crowded with all kind of news, long to do lists at office and home, worrying about somebody's health *sigh*. Anyone wants to join me for an ice cream sundae?..which flavors do you like? chocolate? Neopolitan? Rocky Road ?Butter Pecan or Vanilla...Me?..I want them all *LOL*.

The above pattern is available from sis jon's pattern blog.

Happy Sewing, tatting and crafting everyone ..XOXO

Tag - Mother and Doter

Cantikkan si Eustoma nie?. Me beli kat auntie florist - Pudu Wet Market. Bila me tanya bunga apa nie, dia sebut "Estoma"..bila me suh dia eja..dia gelak je..hehehe. Eustoma nie mcm akak carnation tu jugak, kalau letak dalam vase, taruk air sikit je so that dia tahan lama. Sesekali, kalau me bosan2 ngan bunga2 plastik kat rumah tu, me tukar jugak dengan fresh flower..part of my stress therapy.

~0~

Ok jom sambung ngan Tag dari kakyon pulak.
